Budget provides tax relief but raises excise by two per cent
New Delhi, Feb 26 : Keeping the income tax exemption limit unchanged at Rupees 160,000, the Union Budget today provided relief to individual taxpayers by raising tax slabs and hiked excise duty by 2 per cent on all non-petroleum products, indicating a calibrated withdrawal of the stimulus which was provided to the economy to tide over the global slowdown.
